So, when I was putting together my equipment list for my upcoming build, I was relegated to an INT rather than an EXT version of the skimmer. It has occurred to me that with my modified dimensions, I can have a wider than expected sump. So I am no longer relegated to an INT. I can go for an EXT if I so desire.

With the preface stated, is there a difference in quality and/or user friendliness between the two choices? If not, I'll stick with the INT, as it'll give me more room.

Thanks!!!

I’m not sure if one works better, and have never had an external, but is there a built in safeguard with an external to prevent it from overflowing? That would be a concern for me if it didn’t. I’ve already managed to flood my floors in all other ways.

The externals produce more bubble contact time which makes skimmers perform better BRS DID A comparison between the 2

Ext way better. I have a regal 250 ext and my buddy has the same 250 but int version. The ext definitely give better control as you can control airflow and water feed Independently
