Hey there! Trying to figure out if this nem is just a lost cause or if it’s doing something else. Attached a picture of what it looked like when purchased (circled nem with yellow). Recently, it’s been doing something else funky things. Its mouth was gaping open for a while, it has been trying to move and today it looks like attached picture in net. I’m thrown off because there are no odors coming from it and it is still trying to stick to the net so I’d hate to toss it if it’s still alive and will recover, but certainly don’t wanna throw off tank parameters for just one little nem. Any advice appreciated! Thanks.

It's still alive, keep it fully submerged. If this is in the 160 gallon a single dead RFA will not throw off your tank that badly.
I'd keep the net turned inside out inside the tank until it releases on its own.

thanks! It is in the 160 gallon tank. I appreciate the reply. It’s back in and has opened up a little and is back to looking like it’s spilling its guts (picture attached). Tested the water and got these parameters:
Sal- 1.025
Alk- 9.6
Calc- 420
Mag- 1400
Phos- .26
Nit- 26.7
Ammonia- 0
I thought I was fighting high nitrates and phosphates, but got a recommendation on the group that said I’m within okay numbers and I’m keeping it consistent.

Any ideas on what the issue is with the nem? Just normal behavior? Obviously seems stressed, just not sure beyond that. Anything that helps them? Thanks!

How long ago did you purchase it? Did it start looking wierd the moment you put it in? Did you acclimate it? They're finicky so it needs time now to get comfortable again and find a cozy spot

It’s been in the tank since September 27th. I floated the bags, but then put it in. It was happy and found a home. It was probably about a couple weeks ago that its mouth was gaping open. I fed it (probably not the smartest in hindsight) and that didn’t make it improve. It started trying to find a new home about a week ago ish and now we’re at this state.

May be moving. Assure not too much light and /or water flow and that phosp0hates are not elevated
