Rock flower anemone hiding under rock?

I've had this RFA for about a week now and I initially placed it on the sand bed but it moved itself into a little cave nearby. It's been there for a week and doesn't seem to get much light. Should I be worried?

Yes you should be worried. Unfortunately RFA aren't the smartest creatures and it can stay in the cave and slowly wither away.

How you get it out will be hard. You can try pointing a power head at it in hopes that it will irritate it enough to move out of the cave.

I've lost RFA before that moved to undersides of rock, stayed there, then died.

I've had a few rock flowers go under a rock and die from lack of light. I did have one once that came back out, it was completely bleached white, and took about 2 weeks to completely recover.

Just happened to me, he was in a good spot for months then dug his cave deeper and went under my rock and came out a week later looking terrible and it died. There was another 2-3” away that never moved or had any issue

The best strategy for anemones is to get 10, so that you can enjoy 4. They are beautiful but frustrating.
