I have a 100lbs of plain old rock in my 100 gallon. The rock is about 13 years old so it has tons of bacteria thriving on it. Its a little to much rock for me and i have to make a wall with it which looks unnatural as im not good with scaping. I want to remove some but i only have an fx6 and no sump. (Getting a sump in a few months) i would like to know, entirely removing the rocks, how many could i safely remove without any spikes in the water like nitries, ammonia, etc. Now, i have so much algea my tank itself is a refugium. I have an extremely light bioload, and all my water parameters for nitrites, ammonia, are 0. Nitrates are perfect. How many rocks or how many pounds of rock can i safely remove a day?

I'd just remove a rock or two every couple days. I've been doing the same thing while my tank is fallow.
