My first 75g had a canister filter with a HOB skimmer and HOB fuge, it worked. Not idea, but it worked. Just make sure clean your canister often!

Best of luck
That sounds like you had no room for a lid at all so what happen to the set up?

I had a custom screen. I moved and parted out the unit. After that I briefly had a 180, since then have had nano reef tanks. 180 was great, but costly. Still easier to stay stabil. I find nanos are harder to maintain and enjoy the challenge of getting them to flourish. Plus, they can be moved easier. Now that I have bought a house that I don't plan on moving from, I'd like a midsize tank, say a red sea emax 45g

Thats sweet so y did you get rid of it and where can i get one amazon?
I have been reefing for a few years, I have not ever tried a sump. I also wanted to get rid of all the probes and heater that were on the glass and have a cleaner look to my system. I built a sump and located the sump remotely so that I could have a sump or I would still be running the CPR. I have built HOB is the past for my systems, but it would have cost me more to build a HOB like the CPR.

The reason I have always used HOB in the past is that I lived in apartments and did not want the overflowing sump call from the landlord;).

it was a little nosey on how it rested on the tank rim. My fix was a couple of rubber eraser under the pipes that rest on the tank.

Then the CPR will work, I ran my system with the CPR with a full reef. If you do go with the CPR, pull the media out after about 4 months. All the media does after that point is trap leftovers, which causes problems
