Bye bye Waterbox 35.2, hello Aqua Medic Armatus 300XD!

So 9 years have passed... I guess it's time to update 😅. The reefer 170 never made the cut, but i'm still reefing!
I settled for a Waterbox 35.2, running a Tunze 9004dc skimmer, 2 x jecod DMP20's, a Royal Exclusiv Red dragon X and my favorite piece of reef gear Keloray AL150 reef light.
I know i know my foxface is getting too big in i'm going to rehome it. I had some nasty bubble algae but foxy ate it all! Tank has been running for 5 years now. I'm going to try and keep posting in my build thread, looking to upgrade my tank to a larger sumped system like a reefer 300xl or a Neptunian Cube M pro 90. Anyhow here's my tank! Please be kind ☺️.

Wow, I'm glad to see the tank is still kicking!

After around 6 years, it was time to say goodbye to my Waterbox 35.2. We've had our ups and downs over the years, but I've learned a lot from this tank and had plenty of great moments with it.

Unfortunately, I started noticing bubbles in the silicone seams, and after contacting Waterbox, they advised me to replace the tank. Not exactly the upgrade I had planned, but I guess sometimes these things make the decision for you.

So, meet the new tank: Aqua Medic Armatus 300XD!
The dimensions were a big reason for choosing this one. At 75 x 65 x 55 cm, it's a nice step up from the Waterbox without taking over the entire living room. The extra depth is something I'm particularly looking forward to.
I'm also really impressed with the new cabinet. The aluminium frame feels very solid and the overall finish is a big improvement. For the sump, I'm finally using my Skimz Sumpro UP21, and I've gone with a Maxspect SK2400 for the skimmer. Flow is provided by a Jecod MDP-6500 return pump, a MLW-20 flow pump and a MOW-9 flow pump. The tank is lit by my Keloray AL-150. I'll say it again, i LOVE this light. It even looks beter over this tank from a design perspective, it suits the tank perfectly.

The tank was set up 2 weeks ago, and so far things are looking good. Still plenty to do, including sorting out some aiptasia and adding a few more pieces of rock, but at least the new reef is finally up and running.

It's a bit strange starting over after six years with a new tank, but I'm excited to see where this one goes.

I'll share more as things develop!

Always sad shutting down a tank after investing so much time into it, but it's an exciting new adventure! Excited to see the new tank and how it progresses!
