H80 will make for a nice looking refugium area. I would like to run an open stand sump but kids/dogs make that too risky.

It's a little tempting for the grandchildren. I've since added a cheap ($2) blind to lower down at night to keep the refugium light contained and to keep little hands from being tempted to reach in. This has helped keep me from worrying, while I plan the upgraded, retractable door. I now have a spring loaded, blind ($5) to add once I get the power cables managed better thru the wall of the stand.

Here's it's current state when children are around....

Looks good! Is there much light bleed when the Kessil is on at night?

Glows but doesn't blind me at night. This cheap blind is like a thick construction paper. The next one is a plastic material, it should stop all light and allow me to roll it up and away when I want the open look.

Really like the gate valves on the manifold, great plumbing all around especially for having to deal with two overflows. You running anything on the manifold currently?

I also keep a 6' hose hooked up, I use it to clean the sump. I close off the returns and open just the 6' hose. Use the hose to get all the junk moving then circulate the junk straight into the filter socks to catch it all. When finished I just turn the returns back on and don't end up with any of the junk entering the display. That's the only time I put the filter socks in. Normally I just use the sponge pad with no socks.

That aquascape is fantastic. Perfect for fish and corals. Love all the details! The blinds are very cool too.

The original aquascape was a lower height overall. I eventually had to tear it down and go 76 days fallow. I decided to raise the shelf rocks up closer to the top on the 2nd aquascape. Having the shelf rocks pinned together with 3/8" acrylic rods has worked out great.
