The question is can I use a 32 gallon Rubbermaid brute container for a temporary sump?
I am moving in a number of months to a new house and we are able to use the basement there for storage if need be. I will be transferring the fish tank and corals in time but will have a temporary set up for them in the meantime. To hold it up, I am planning on using cement blocks that are super cheap and can hold the weight.
My plan is to use the container for live rock, skimmer, wave maker, heater, and return pump. To accomplish this, I expect to first plumb the return pump and set that at the bottom of the bucket. Build some sort of stand that can hold the skimmer while also serving as heater location without being damaged by the rocks. I think using egg crates will help with keeping the rocks out but will need something strong to hold the skimmer (any ideas on this would be helpful). Lastly, I would add the live rock carefully around the open areas not crush anything. Also, thinking about adding in a small area for some chateo to grow near the top of sump. I have a LED light that was used for a fish only tank that I had so I think it will be ok for the chateo (if not, let me know).
