Very good write up! I can get caught up in the latest and greatest stuff. More equipment then corals or fish, but not everyone has room or money for the new gadgets. Or the desire.

Anyone new needs to research and learn, just like we all did. Then set up their tank to their liking. No two tanks are the same, ever.

Anyone who thinks they know all the answers all the time is wrong. There is no perfect tank, perfect answer.

Above all, as you said it is pointless to berate a fellow hobbiest just cause they do things differently. That's what makes this hobby so cool, the variations and the different ways to meet, basically, the same end goal of a beautiful tank.

Exactly. At the end of the day, all reefers want the same thing...a beautiful healthy reef and a positive experience. So accepting all of the beautiful variants in thought and practice only serves make the hobby more enriching and rewarding for everyone.

Exactly. I have a strong opinion- like many of you...and it may rub some reefers the wrong way, but I make it clear that it's MY opinion, not dole out dogma that you must follow or be banished, and I and try to follow advice that I think is sound, and share the same with others. I've been wrong about a lot of stuff, as we all have. The difference is, I'll admit it, LOL. And I suspect most of you will, too!

The proven method of learning is through making mistakes. Wisdom is sharing your mistakes with other reefers so they may learn from your mistakes. This hobby is to broad to know everything!:) I believe we all have buckets full of mistakes;)
