Running 2 sumps on a reef tank?

Any of you running 2 sumps on a tank?

Here is my ultimate goal, I want all my overflow drains go into sump 1, to sump 2, back to display, i want for maintenance mode, sump 1 to be isolated, an drained, and while its in maintenance modes the water needs to divert to sump 2 somehow.
My thinking behind this is that im adding more water volume to my system and all detritus is going in sump 1 and can be drained when needs to be for water changes.

I kind of did had 2 sumps already. I had a 75g water storage tank, in this tank I had a pump from my regular sump to this tank, with 2 returns going back to the sump. I used this tank to do easy water changes.
Step 1 turn pump of that pump water into this tank from my sump.
Step 2 drain water out of this tank, (tank location is in garage)
Step 3 add r.o. water and salt and let it mix with internal pump inside this tank.
Step 4 turn the pump back in from sump to those tank.

The problem with above system is that im not catching 100% of detritus from sump because i only using little pump. And my goal is to catch 100% of detritus that goes into the sump.

I would encourage you to maybe try a different diagram and remove the fishing pole.

There are some hobbyist who run isolated chambers in series that replace the more traditional sump. I've not seen anyone use pumps to move from chamber to chamber though because that is a pretty large failure point should the pump fail that is moving water. Chamber overflow and pump down stream running dry.

I've seen them plumbed together so that the water flows naturally. Typically primary and secondary for redundancy. I would simulate a power failure to see how much water due to back siphon. I would not rely on check valves.
 
Following this as I think this would be interesting to do
 
Without extensive fail-safe logic, there can only be one low point in the system and it should be gravity fed from all other water sources. When there is more than one destination for draining water, and they are not connected by gravity, you will end up with a flood caused by imbalanced flow.
 
So in the picture above, lol ignore the fishing poll @areefer01 as this is only picture I have. There was zero points of failure, this tank is in garage and its taller them my sump. The pump that I have im my main sump was pumping water to this tank with one 3/4" line, and i had overflow tubes coming out of this tank back into the sump, if pump would shut off water would stay in this 75g tank.

all I did was basically added another 75g tank of water to my system.
