My sailfin seems to have a slight tear in his top sail. I've had him about two weeks now and it only showed up yesterday. There's been no aggression of any kind in my tank, so I'm wondering if he tore it on some rocks. My question is, will this lead to any health problems or further tearing of the top sail? Is there any kind of treatment I should be performing?

My coral beauty got a small tear in its back fin a couple days after I added it. Cleared up on its own in about 2 days. I would say watch it and see how it does over the next couple of days.

Do you have any other Tangs? I find mine will get tears from time to time. I haven't seen if it is from aggression from one another or not. Either way, it usually heals within a day or two. No need to be concerned.

Dont worry bout minor fin tears. Even major single tears will heal in a couple of days. I have 6 tangs in my tank with 5 large angels so a lil fin tear occasionally isnt a big deal.

I have a sail fin and notice the same thing every once in a while; I'm pretty sure they bump into a sharp rock of worm tube when their fins open and get a little tear. Mine heals every few days
