Hi group,
Just curious, what is the salinity most reefs should be at. I’m running mine at a consistent 1026 and 78 degrees because I use Tropic Marin Pro reef salt and that’s what it recommends to achieve certain parameters. I’ve heard many run at 1025. What do you recommend and why?
Thank you for your input.

I recommend meeting the parameters expressed by the manufacturer. Especially so if it is Tropic Marin as they have been in this game for several decades.

Really doesn't matter where you are between 1.024 to 1.026, the more important thing is stability at that level. Choose a figure and stick to it, most will run reefs at 1.026 because the salt mixes at the most optimal levels for Alk/Ca/Mag.

I agree Tropic Marin is one of the leaders in this hobby. Thank you

Stability is always the best option.

There seems a fairly wide range of acceptable salinity. The world wide ocean average has a specific gravity of about 1.0264 (35 ppt) and that what I target and see little reason to target anything else. Mine is currently significantly above that and I’m slowly lowering it.
