I had a sally lightfoot that was seemingly fine for approximately 10 days in a new tank (6 weeks old with live rock and bacteria and pod dosing). Added four nassarius snails (trust they are nassarius) and came home to them munching on the sally carcass. I have dropped a half clam in last night which was eaten. I have 3 hermits, a decorative crab and two blood shrimp that are chilling. Welcome thoughts on if the nassarius killed it or just found it dead:/ the hermit added with the sally is alive and well still

The snails didn't take the crab down, they likely came upon it after it died for whatever reason, is my guess.
