Cup measurements are thoroughly confusing to us British
My mother went through a period of buying me American cook books every Christmas & I never could work it out :face-with-tears-of-joy:

Never thought about it, interesting. I assume you use mL or L for volume in place of where "cup" is still pretty common in the USA,,, plus other such non-sense like teaspoon, tablespoon, etc.

I remember in the 1970s, we (USA) had a big push to convert to using the metric system but feels like it just didn't pan out quite perfectly.

Your tools of measurement are scales, syringes and beakers. Ours are spoons, cups and referee’s feet. I think I may see the problem.

The supposed advantages for the average person disappeared with calculators and computers.
