Our female had all the other anthias hovering in a corner at the store.

If you look at mine, her dorsal streamer got very long later in life. There was no other male in the tank, so I'm not sure what she was up to.

Here you can see how short it use to be.

That looks like two females fighting to establish who will be the male.

One is a yellow breasted male..other is a plain female..not even submale

They don't traditionally turn into males unless there are other females to dominate. She did this about year 5, I guess. We're thinking it just came with age. She had a male with her for the first few weeks, but we never attempted to put another anthias back in that tank.

ahh gotcha didnt know if there was another female with her...i mean him? lol

yep thats my "little" forty from when I first got him!
