Saltwater Pond?

Has anybody here ever set up a proper salt water pond outside? I can imagine the trouble you would have to go through would be insane as far as topping off and keeping the temperature and parameters stable. Where I live it's definitely too hot to set anything up outside. But if I lived somewhere with a temperate climate most of the year I think this would be a fun project to set up.

I don’t have one but another problem I could think of is litter like leaves and trash falling into it.

There's a few threads here that are about outdoor reefs. If I remember correctly the biggest issue was rain and the effect it had salinity

For several months, I operated a 150G display tank with 150G Rubbermaid tub buried in the ground. Both were located below a large Oak tree. This experiment ended during Spring flood which rose above Rubbermaid tub.

On a larger scale, I operated 10KG in a greenhouse. Evaporative cooling maintained water temperature 20 degrees below 100 degree Texas summers. This required 100G of makeup water each day.
