Sand Sifting Fish Ideas?

[Great Barrier Reefer]

Hi! I have a 43 gallon mixed reef, and I was wondering what sort of fish I could keep that would help to sift the sand. I am aware of cucumbers and hermit crabs, both of which I'd rather not keep (Bad experiences with the crabs, seen what a cucumber can do when it 'nukes' a tank). Other fish in the tank include a percula clown, three blue-green chromis and two firefish. The sand coverage in the tank is just under 1/3. Thanks in advance!

Is that 1/3" deep SB? If so you really have no need for a sifter. But Nassarius Snails are always a good bet :)

1/3 as in it covers 1/3 of the space available on the bottom of the tank. The sand bed is about 3cm/1.81" deep :)

Then I'd just go with Nass Snails. Thats a pretty shallow bed.

A small.sand sifting star is always a nice addition. They dont seem to bother much.

If you have that little sand then a few snails would be more then enough. I have a 75 with spotless sand and only have 6 snails. I have more flow then most people though which helps alot

any of the valencia species gobies would work. tangs are good too for picking up sand, like chevron, kole, tomini.

We have a Diamond Goby, Keeps sand Very clean and is fun to watch! Only problem they make having frags on the sandbed because they like to burry them once in a while! and at a LFS their only about 35$
