Have had a yellow coris wrasses for years

Just lost him, but curious

Does sand bed depth matter

probably a 2 inch sand bed, previous tank maybe was little deeper before upgrade

wondering if sandbed too shallow

Hard to say without knowing the size of the wrasse. I have a 4” Melanarus wrasse and he seems to do fine in my sandbed, which is approximately 2” deep in most spots. So yes, it can matter - but so can water parameters and other factors like fish aggression, etc.
