I am refurbishing a 180 gallon reef tank. I have removed the tower overflows and I am resealing it. The bottom and top trim are in rough shape and I would love to sand them with some 3000 grit sandpaper. Has anyone here done this or do you have a better way to refurbish the tank frames?

Is that plastic? If so I would think you could sand them a bit then spray paint them.

Wet sand and then some Novus plastic polish. Looks like that bulkhead was a bit too close to the plastic frame ;)

I have no idea who drilled the tank but I have never seen bulkheads where they actually cut in to the trim around the tank. I will wet sand the plastic and then use the polish you recommended. Thank you so much!

I’ve used that spray paint that bonds with plastic for anything that won’t touch water. It looks nice. Here’s my sump, with the plastic painted blue

That looks amazing!
