Yup pretty common in Southern Indiana.

The original part of the house is 100 years old, the basement is giant limestone blocks about a foot thick. So that's where we go. The addition is on the east side and basically 3 stories with the basement. That's where most of the storms come from.

Youre better off just going full generator. Youll need to keep the AC going to not have the tanks melt from the heat. I have both, mainly so i can not worry about the tank while getting the gennie going.
