I have a Trigger CRYS18C sump on the way and in trying to decide on a skimmer for it. I really like the SCA-302 but I'm worried about the fit. The footprint of the skimmer is 9 inches and the skimmer chamber is 10.875″ x 11″. I think it should fit fine but is that too big for that chamber?

This is my first build with a nice sump and skimmer so I just want to be sure.

Thanks!

Basically, I'm just wondering if a skimmer of that size takes up too much space in that chamber, not just if it will physically fit. Will there be too little water volume left?

If it's tight on paper I would suggest you get a bigger sump. You will want to fit a lot of other stuff in the sump down the road.

The sump is already on the way. It's about the biggest I can fit under my tank.

I have this skimmer and LOVE it. it does a great job on my system. you wont be dissapointed. I have a 40 breeder sump and it fits quite well in the first chamber where the water comes in to my sump. so long as you have a steady water level it will work fine.
