Hello and thanks for checking out my build thread! This is my Waterbox AIO 35.2
20260114_214914_E12404B9-7FD5-47E4-80C9-78852CC973D8.png

I am downsizing from a Reef 100.3 that’s been running for just under 6 years (if you zoom in to the reflection you can spy my GSP garden lol)

I am deciding to downsize for smaller easier water changes and to get a blank slate. My current tank is full of aiptasia, GSP, pulsing Xenia, and vermetid snails. I was in a rush moving into my new house when I set it up initially so I didn’t spend a lot of time on the scape or plan corals or QT anything I added. Suffice to say I have learned many lessons and plan to take my time with the new system.

Big shoutout to Chandler Rocks Aquascaping for my beautiful centerpiece! He was super pleasant to work with and I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a custom scape.

Here is the equipment I decided to start with:

- Kessil A360XE with Spectral controller X (tired of the apps)
- IM MightyJet desktop AIO DC return pump
- Aqua Gadget 5 gallon Hydrofill reservoir with a Tunze Osmolator 3 Nano
- Tank is on a custom stand from Alufab, definitely do not regret my last minute decision not to get the WB stand. A lot of reviews mentioned the low quality of the cabinet that normally comes with these tanks. The Alufab stand is extremely sturdy

I have not decided on a powerhead or protein skimmer and am open to suggestions!

As far as livestock, for right now I am only planning to keep my current bonded pair of clownfish. The other fish I have in my old system are a yellow tang, Pygmy angelfish, longnose hawkfish, and orchid dottyback. I really would like to keep my longnose in addition to my clowns but not sure if he’d be happy in a 33 gallon.

Added some Dr. Tim’s ammonium chloride and Microbacter7 today to kickstart the cycle. And now we wait!

Loving your aquascape! Following along to see how your tank progresses

Looks great! I’ll be following along, I was pretty much in the same position when I started my waterbox, I wanted to add media from the previous tank but I had to be super carefully not to add all those unwanted guests to the new tank.

Yup same here, and decided not to do it. No water, rock, sand from the old tank. Will do snails and conches. And I will pull all the coral of their rocks and plugs. And try to get them to re-attach.

Little over 2 months in and definitely starting to get into the uglies phase. Added a Nero 3 pump recently, wondering if the placement is ok and do I really need a second one 🤔

Need to get the quarantine tank set up soon for any reefapalooza goodies too

Your commitment to avoiding the common pest will make a significant difference. I am going on 2 yrs of strict observation and vendor choices.
The scape is amazing.

Yes I definitely learned my lesson with my previous tank and plan to take my time with this one!

Thank you I don’t regret paying a little extra for the custom scape, can’t wait to see it full of coral
