I would like to get a seahorse tank and plumb it into my existing 250 gallon system to handle the bioload of the seahorses. My question is the reef tank stays between 77.5 -78 degrees would that be too warm for them?

IMO, yes. Best chances of success will come from a temperature range of 68°-74°F.
You also stand the chance of loosing the seahorses to pathogens/parasites that the seahorse has not grown up with and with their rudimentary immune system can fall victim to.

I collected these here in New York water where it is very cold. I kept them in a separated part of my reef right in with everything else. They lived fine and kept having babies which also grew in there and spawned, so I guess some seahorses just don't care. :D
Here the female is laying eggs in the male's pouch.

Depends on the species. I have observed both H. zosterae and H. erectus in seagrass beds of the Gulf of Mexico living quite happily in a water temp of 85 degrees.

I just think it would be much easier to keep the water clean when it's hooked into a system with a large refugium
