Long anticipated for myself I’ll finally be upgrading my reef tanks. I currently have a Red Sea XL300 in order from my LFS. Approximately 2-3weeks. Tanks are on back order... I will be upgrading from my 10 and 20 gal IM nuvo.

Quick background on the name of thread. I decided to name is this tank after one of my best friends. Seidon. He’s my senior German Shepherd. He is 14 years old and still full puppy. His name is short for Poseidon. My guy doesn’t have many years left so I want to dedicate this tank to him.

Lighting- 2 AI hydra 32.
Water Pumps- 2 reefwave 25 & 2 current eFlux 660.
Return Pump- Simplicity DC1000.
Skimmer- Simplicity DC240.
Reactor- IM midsize Reactor & 2 two little fish universal media reactor.
UV Sterilizer- IM 9w uv sterilizer.
Refugium Light- IM chaetomax.
ATO- IM hydrofill with 5gal tank.

I will be converting the stock ato tank into a refugium. With 1/2in intake and 1/2 out. Will only be running 100gph max through this. Slow and steady flow.

Will contain roughly about 60lbs of rock. Mix between life rock arches and other live rock pieces. With some dry rock from making my own structures. Also will have 50lbs of fiji pink reef sand. I’m only wanting an inch thick sand bed.

I look forward to all of your input! I can’t wait to get this thing going!

Got it all put together!

The downside of the early delivery is that I’m still waiting on about half of the add on items I got going into this tank.

It will be replacing this

More fun tomorrow. I’ll be breaking down the 20gal nuvo completely. I was able to take all my corals and fish to my LFS for safe keeping until they are ready to return.

These guys were busy helping me all day. They have the right idea. Check in tomorrow for more updates.

Tanks all filled. Going to dive in on the rock work now. Don’t mind the wire mess. Going to get all that spruced up once I get the rest of my equipment.

Finished all the rock work. I’m pretty pleased with the look. I can say it’s always a pain having to deal with the water when arranging cycled rock. But my choice since I personally do not like dry rock.

Please share your thoughts.

I’m liking what I see! Love the filter cup— are you going with some old school floss, it’s hard to beat because you have your cup up front and can tell right away when it needs to be tossed for new floss. Best wishes. :)

Right now I have 2 socks in there that my LFS gave me off there display tank. To help jump start the cycle. But I plan on going to the media cups with some filter floss. Can’t beat the classics sometimes.

Awesome tank and great looking 'scape!!
This is the tank that i am looking at for my new build.

Are you using rocks / water from your old tanks or going completely new?

Scape is a little different now from original. Had to catch all my fish and treat for an ick our break.

I used about 30lbs of live rock from my previous system. Then added another 60lbs roughly on top of it. It’s mostly all life rock.

A lot has been added since original posting. I’ll update later this afternoon.

But it’s a great tank I love it.

Great tank! Following along as I also have an XL300 set up.

Do you have a Random Flow Gen. on it? Doesn't look like the stock Y attachment on the last pic.

Guess it’s been a long while since I posted anything. Here’s an updated photo. Lots has changed. 3B0B4FDA-CD06-47C2-87E2-B285E4C35DB7.jpeg D1610CC6-95B8-4BC1-8D13-F20247A37DFD.jpeg
