So I'm looking to possibly purchase a Seneye Reef for my IM Nuvo 16g.. It looks like it'll do all the things I want it to, such as PAR, Temp, and PH. I'm going to be able to snag one for $150 Canadian which seems to be the cheapest option to know whats going on in the tank remotely.

Here's my questions:

Hows the iPhone app?

Hows the PAR meter?

Does the website do a good job of reporting everything well?

I'm mostly excited about being able to watch my tank temperature while I'm away, as my apartment can get fairly warm in the summer. Please let me know of your impressions on this unit.

Thanks

I bought it specifically for the par meter. During set up I discovered you have to pay Seneye and additional $60 to activate the par meter!!! Shipped it right back to BRS.

Exactly! I was pretty irritated. I contacted BRS and they initially said there were no returns on opened / used items. I explained that the product info on the site said nothing about any additional expenses and that if it had said so I wouldn't have bought it and opened it. They made an exception. :-)

Did you get the Seneye Reef version for $199.99? I love mine and the PAR, PUR, LUX all work great if the device is hooked up to a laptop. My only complaint is that you need the web server or computer with 24 hr Internet access. It is not like your Apex that just needs Internet access. The Seneye requires a computer to run an app that processes and uploads your data to the web for viewing. I have used it for NH4, temp and pH monitoring of my QT with no issue. Watch the last BRS 52-week episode week 40. They love the Seneye and so do I.

Interesting, did you have to pay to activate the PAR meter? I installed the software to just see what it was like, and it looked like the PAR, PUR, LUX was all enabled on the tab. It was just waiting to receive data from the Seneye.

I can't recall the setup. I want to say I got a slide to activate the whole thing... Then after that I just never put a new slide in. Then they added a timer to shutoff the readings, except for par.
Otherwise it works ok, but for the price JUST for a par meter, I would look into the new apogee.

Mine has done a good job and seems to always be right on when I do manual water test to compare it. The iOS app is nice because I can check my numbers anywhere and I travel a lot so that is a big help and I wasn't ready to step up to the apex as of yet.
