Shark adding

I and everyone else had had a completely different experience with NYaquatics, I’ve gotten like 20 fish from him. No issues except a few chromis and cleaner wrasse

I have gotten an Achilles tang, moorish idol, and blue spotted stingray. The 3 hardest fish to keep, all doing great from him. All are right away in the tank

have you gone to warehouse in Yonkers and seen the massive amounts of dead fish in the tanks? I had a positive experience with him once he keeps his high end fish in separate 4x4 tanks any other fish is in with other fish. im happy you had a good experience, but I have a long email from him threatening me, my job, and refusing to take ownership when I asked him in ware house what the white speck was on the dussimieri tank which he said was a lifted scale nothing to worry about. I trusted him as the expert. that was not the fish I ordered. I ordered an epaulette and gem tang. he charged me the next day the price for those two fish. he knew the epaulette was sold when I got to his warehouse to pick up he told me he sold the already purchased epaulette and did everything not to refund me. the 'lifted scale' was a necrotic bacteria. I took a tissue sample and got it analyzed, not an everyday sickness for fish. the yellow tang is Hawaiian no from Japan. I just wanted the refund dorms epaulette not the mess he strong armed me into, research up on. him and se how many tanks he's crashed. my 7inch. achilles is dead, my black tang dead, purple tang dead, biota tang dead. metallic fox dead, Fiji fox dead. my tank was stable until his dussimieri came along and I listened to him.

My advice bc im not telling you where to shop from or not but check the copper levels in the shipment bags or if you purchase and pick up even better because he uses tank water, the copper was 2x the uln of what it should be. he moves the fish fast so there are no neurologic symptoms but if there's a defect that absolutely will minimize or mask it.

I suggest setting up a QT tank if you order from him and keep essentials on hand before putting fish into main tank. learn from my mistake.

you got lucky. ive seen the warehouse and ive been there. achilles tangs and high profiles are In their own 4x4 tank not with other fish also on different sump system.
same with moorish idol which barely fits in the 4x4. cleaner wrasse is mixed with general fish as are chromis'. stingray housed with sharks. harder to catch disease. achilles own tank. I advise if you live in the are to see the warehouse yourself.

the number of dead fish in shared tanks is eyeopening.

MF…. I guess Ill fire up my biocube for the 4 tangs I ordered from him just to be safe and not crash my tank (again) due to one fish bringing black ich into the tank. Thank you for sharing. Hope my fish do okay from him since they were on his blowout livestock sales… but makes me skeptical after hearing that encounter.

I’ve been there plenty of times, the thing with the dead fish, is they’re never dead from disease like ICH or velvet, either got beat up-which is impossible to prevent when limited employees and like 2,000 fish going in and out every week.

Achilles were usually in a 50-60 gallon tank, as they sell out in 2 days. Sharks and rays do get their own pond 600 gallon.

The Moorish idol I got was in a 50 gallon tank with 5–10 others, and some small wrasses. Again, they sell out in sometimes minutes after being posted online

I’m sorry you’ve had this bad of an experience with him, i agree a qt is 100% necessary, and maybe I’ve had better luck because i always see the fish in person first, I do often see a fish on his website and irl its in less then ideal condition

Just to update both of you: received my NY Aquatic order.

I ordered 4 tangs and 3 chromis. They emailed me yesterday saying they didnt have the chromis and they were sorry. No big deal.

I ordered a purple, sohal, Atlantic Blue, and a white tail tang. The sohal, purple, and white tail were all super healthy looking and active in the bag. Acclimated just fine and are actively swimming and grazing around the tank! Pictures below. The atlantic blue was not doing well (very thin and laying on its side) and passed. They issued store credit right away. I would say Im overall happy with the order.

I hope and wish you continued luck. if you saw the warehouse in person it might explain a bit more. I don't want to post the graphic photos of how my fish ended up. Over 2000$ that I built up over the years after settling down after graduating from my medical program. I cant go dive reefs anymore I have larger responsibilities which is why I started my tank, a small oasis for when I needed to clear my mind, and that was taken from me. My 7" achilles, all 3 versions of my fox faces, my gem tang, purple tang, my black tang, yes they got along, my lieut. tang, a harem of clowns. I am devastated. what took years to build was destroyed from 1/3/25 - current. the lifted scale I was told not to worry about was Uronema marinum. I never stood a chance.

Thats awful! There is a fish store that did that to me when I first started and then an online store that shall not be named lol. I have a sohal, purple, white tail and clown trigger from them. All are very healthy! Im also treating the tank as a precaution since I dont have any inverts or corals.
