Please help. I’m not sure what is happening with my cabbage. My tank is about 2 and a half months old and still going through its ugly stage. I’ve had the cabbage for one week now, never opened up, and I’m not sure if it’s shedding or if it has diatoms on it please help.

Leathers need good flow to help them shed their outer mucus layer and stop detritus from building up on it. Try to move it into a higher flow area, and you can also take a turkey baster and gently blow on it to help remove the buildup on it.

Thanks for the response, will do. ☺️

I've had one for a few years. It's finishing up a shed now. It's looked like crap for a bit over two weeks. I don't know why but it takes longer to shed than any of my othe leathers

Ok interesting, does mine look like it’s shedding? Or is it algea or something else?

It looks like it's shedding to me. When mine sheds it gets what looks like brownish algae but I'm not really sure if it is algae or just the layer being shed decomposing. I do like to blow mine off to help it along.
