Well had the reefer 170 up and running for a month and said it needs to be bigger. A lot bigger. So picked up a Reefer 350 and made the transfer over yesterday. Broke down the 170, Cleaned off rock in new saltwater, took out sand and rinsed thoroughly until water ran clear. Added more rock and also another bag of figi pink sand. Took about 7 hrs start to finish but man was it worth it.
In order to have enough saltwater for water changes and even the initial fill, I spent the last few days building a water mixing station. It really makes things easy being able to make 50 gallons at a time.
When the 350 was filled with a combo of new and existing water and up to temp, I added a bottle of dr Tim’s to avoid the recycle even though I’m sure my existing rock would have done just fine. Better to be safe than sorry! Have to give a shoutout to Brandon @brandon429 for all of his hard work on this forum. Without his hard work, I would have never had the confidence to handle this task. Cheers buddy! Shutting down old build thread and will be posting here going forward.
