should I get two wrasse at once?

Hi everyone, I have a wrasse stocking question. I plan on getting two wrasse for my 75 gallon.
Probably two of the more easy going fairy or flasher variety. Am I better off getting them both at the same time
to avoid conflict between the two?

Even fairy wrasses can conflict. Probably should post which ones so folks can chime in on their experiences.

I am considering a yellowfin flasher and a red velvet fairy.

Might be ok. I have a yellow coris, melanaurus, sixline, and a red head salon fairy wrasse. They all get along. I had a flasher at one time but my sixline forced it to jump. The sixline tends to be on the aggressive side at times.

Adding both at once can certainly help. If they're spaced apart, I'd recommend using an acclimation box for the latter addition.

Red Velvet can be quite aggressive. I'd consider a different species.

The sixline tends to be on the aggressive side at times.

Wrasses of the Pseudocheilinus genera should NOT be mixed with other wrasses for this very reason. They are all aggressive.

Thanks for the information.....any recommendation to go along with the yellowfin? I have an eye on a yellowfin in divers den and I was trying to
a second while I was at it.

we put in a yellow coris and a Six line at the same time they dont bother each other nor do they bother any other fish in the tank.


IMO i feel like if you introduce them at the same time theres less conflict between them cause of territory purposes.

What else will be in the tank? Flashers can be easily stressed.

I had a carpenters and lubbocks in my 75 without issue.

IME even though C. rubrisquamis can be a little more aggressive than some other fairies it isn't bad enough to prevent it from being added with other flashers and fairies. If you are considering the wrasses on DD the yellow flanked fairy and Earlei are fine choices, though the Earlie is a bit pricey its much cheaper than they used to be.

Another wrasse currently on DD, is Leptojulis cyanopleura, the fish for sale is a female, when they turn into a male it is a very nice looking fish, they are quite hardy and very peaceful.
