Hi there. So I’m on day six of my Dr Tim’s fishless cycle. Today is suppose to be the last ammonia dose. My ammonia is around 1-2 ppm but the nitrites are above 2 ppm looking closer to the 5ppm range. It’s really hard to tell on the api kit. (For me anyway). I do have some nitrate so the bacteria is working. Around 5 ppm nitrate. My question is should I skip the last ammonia dose. Seeing as the bacteria are working maybe not dose and let the nitrite converters catch up or will it have the opposite affect if I don’t dose. Not really sure what to do here. It’s my first tank. Any help would be welcome. Thanks. Cheers

Most nitrate test kits cross react with nitrite, so if you have high nitrite that is likely giving a false positive on your nitrate test kit.
