I finally got my tank in and can begin the building process. I plan on making my own canopy using extra wood from a playset I put together. I will be mounting 2 retrofit t5 bulbs and hanging an ai prime from the ceiling. Do I need to coat the inside to prevent damage from any saltspray that might happen?

Yes. I think the prefered paint is white rustoleum. The white helps to reflect light, and then any waterproof paint should work. Double check on the best brand of paint though.
