Sicce SDC9 Vibration and noise

Heyo reefers.

My sdc9 return pump in the system I just set up is producing, what feels to me, as abnormal vibrations. Pump was bought used and was always running, from a complete system close down. I feel like the vibrations are abnormal because of 2 things: people online claim this pump to be extremely quiet and also my varios 6 that serves for my mixing station is MUCH more quiet at full setting than my sdc9 at 60%.

SDC9 is clean and I inspected the impeller, all looking good. Feels a lot like an imbalanced rotor (either magnet or impeller). Note that whether hard plumbed or simply holding it in my hand without it touching my sump, the vibration is same, in all orientations.

What should I do? Is there a place where I could maybe try just buying a new impeller? Should I sell and buy a varios 8 since my varios 6 is so very quiet? Any other troubleshooting that I could do and I cant think of?

From my experience with Sicce AC pumps is that they have hum that I find unpleasant.

You have DC version and I do recall from my last research that some users complained that the DC versions also hum so I stayed away.

I find Chinese made return pumps silent. I used the EcoTech Vectra S1 (broke after 3 years) it was silent, Maxspect Jump6k (still going 4+ years) silent, Innovative Marine Mighty Jet DC smaller models are all quite, Red Dragon X(skimmer pump) also silent.

If you want to keep it maybe try running it at speed below 50%… , try to mount it to flexible pipe, perhaps if you contact Sicce they may provide/sell replacement impeller.

I wrote Sicce support after having an SDC 7 with the same annoying hum shortly after I installed it on my system. They sent a new impeller but that didn’t resolve it either. I got used to it after about 3 years now , but it’s annoying. Good reliable pump, but not as quiet as other DC pumps…
