I'm interested in getting opinions on which types of silent lights are best. To me, that means a fanless light. I know some folks think some lights with fans are very quite, but so often, someone else either hears better, has lower tolerances for irritation by noises, has a quieter environment, or just has a more noisy unit of the same light.

So I'm only interested in fanless LED lights (not mh, had those for decades).

Mostly because I like the company and the look of that light.

Personally I bought RedSea ReefLEDs prior to knowing anything about these, and my wife likes the tank mounted lights better. I've never heard the fans, but they do have fans, so they seem to be out for you.

Which color type did you like? There seem to be several, and I generally don't like the heavy blue look.

Maxspect Razor's. Granted they come with fans, but I've had mine for over a year and yet to turn on. The whole housing is a heat-shield.

GHL also now has a fanless series of LX lamps.

MY vote: Mitras, as I have experience with them.

I have not been a fan (color rendering, color dynamics) of the Orphek lamps in most places that I have seen them. Granted, I have not seen the latest generation in person.

I have no experience with the Straton's to comment either way.

The Quanta Lights Helix bars and Atlas pendants are definitely worth looking at (at https://www.quanta-lights.com). I have not used Orphek lights so I can't compare, but the Quanta products beat Orphek on price. I currently use 5 x Helix bars over my sps tank: 3 x ReefCrest Daylight and 2 x Meso Blue. I get a very good daylight look but still have the color pop of blue lighting. They are fanless, so completely silent as well.

Thanks, I added the helix bars.

Can't say enough good things about the ATI Stratton Pro, you will not be disappointed

Thanks. They have an advantage of a little bit of shimmer, at least that’s what I hear, and my tank has a glass center brace, which is not ideal with bar types.

I have blue plus and sky blue.

I run my radions and kessils on daytime.

I would recommend for you probably skyblue + daytime mix.

4 bars over your tank
Thx!
