Not the prettiest, but thought I'd share my little project from today. If you've got an older ASM or EuroReef Skimmer that doesn't have a silencer on the air intake hose, this works great and can be made for just a few bucks.
You'll need:
Small prescription pill bottle
Length of 3/16" rigid airline tubing
Super glue

Drill two holes offset from each other. One on the cap on top and one on the bottom. Cut two 3" pieces of your rigid tubing making sure the ends aren't crimped or blocked by debris after being cut.
Insert each piece of tubing into the holes and super glue around the hole where the tubing penetrates it to seal. Attach your air intake tubing onto the bottom rigid tube.
Easy! I trimmed my air hose down so it wouldn't kink and held the silencer in place with zip ties. Super quiet.

A prescription bottle...great thinking. Stay tune...someone will be selling these prescription bottles as silencers lol
