Single Polyp bailout on branching hammer?

So I have a fish in the tank that occasionally digs and spits sand all over random corals (Pretty annoying). When this happens I have to take a turkey baster and lightly blast blast the sand off whatever it has settled on. Today the victim happened to be my teal branching hammer and when I gave it a little blast from the turkey baster 2 single polyps came out and started floating around the tank. Do you think these polyps bailed out so easily because the hammer is stressed from my tank conditions? It Seems to be healthy and opens up every day like clockwork?

That smiths damsel is the issue btw lol. He loves digging a cave under that rock and getting sand all over the place.

In many cases it’s due to excessive water flow which causes it to tear from skeleton. Speaking of skeleton. Assure calcium is no less than 380-400 as they have calcium needs.
If polyps are thrashing in the current bent over the skeleton- too much flow
Also assure they get fed regularly with mysis shrimp

I don’t class that as PB, only when the entire head pops.
Maybe a couple of damaged tentacles.
Not a death sentence.
Just keep an eye for any further loss.
Watch crabs of any type if you keep them.
Same with shrimp.

Calcium is 480, and they get fed reef roids, mysis and ab+. I do think it could have been in a little too much current the past month or so. I relocated it behind the frogspawn in the corner since the frogspawn does great in the current. We'll see. Uncle99 has a good point that its not technically bailout if it's not the whole head. I'll just have to keep an eye out and if it gets worse I will dip it.

I think it was in too much flow for the past month or so. Everything else is pretty steady in the tank. I'm sure it's not ideal to hit it with the turkey baster to remove the sand either lol.
