What is going on with this sinularia? I’ve had it for about 5 months. Not sure if this is normal shedding or if it is some type of coral disease, but there is a slimy greenish substance on the ends of some of the branches that hadn’t been there before. All other coral are ok. Any insights? Parameters:
Salinity 1.025
Phosphate 0.02
Nitrate 4.2
Alkalinity 8.5 dkH
Calcium 457 (I know it’s on high side)
Mag 1470 (I know it’s high)
Ammonia/ Nitrite 0/0

Looks like normal shedding to me. FWIW, all corals have to shed their mucus coating periodicly as it ages to renew it. I might gently flush it off with a turkkey baster or waving my hand. I would only do it once though to avoid disturbing the coral too much. If you have aquailonastra starfish you may see them on the coral but they are feeding off the biofilm and not the coral.

The green on the tips are the color of mine. Perhaps it was a little bleached and regaining it’s color? Just a thought, I’m not a sinularia expert. I have owned my first one, because I couldn’t find a colt coral, for about 14 months.
