Sixline wrasse why the hate?

I have one of these little devils in my tank. He was added last and has become a food hog and bully. My female Percula is huge and she can brawl but he still bullies her(She puts the smack down on him and he heals up and comes back for more) and my coral beauty has been regrowing nips and tears for months now.

He's coming out in the next month along with a massive coral banded shrimp..

Transferring everything from a 85 gallon to a 65 gallon acrylic custom build.

mine doesn't seem aggressive to.... Pretty good i got 2 wrasses more carpenter and cleaner one dont remember The científico name....

It's because you haven't added a fish yet. They are always a good tank mate with whatever you currently have. It's when you add.

Agree. However, mine, tended to cool down after a few days. Unfortunately, decided to jump out of the aquarium. Planning to get a new one...

Our six line is inseparable from our pygmy angel,I think they are dating.They however think that they own the whole 150gal.Our six line even swims into large anemones and hangs out in the tentacles like our clowns,and the clowns hate it.

My Sixline Wrasse and Pygmy Angel are also BFF's....inseparable!!!

I've had many in many tanks and always thought of them as peaceful? I've heard of many fish becoming bad tank mates though. I have a friend who said his yellow tang recently went sour and went on a killing spree in his tank??

I like having a six line wrasse in my tank. They have amazing personalities. I had one who was always okay with it's original tank mates but didn't any new additions. Now i'm keeping a pink stripe wrasse which looks close to a six line but with way more red. Supposed to be a bit more docile.

To catch one will take patience and a good well made trap.It will be like real fishing.They are way too smart for a net in a reef tank,so don't even bother you will just stress everyone elsicoe.Ours sees the net before we even open the lid.They also know the look and smell of anything artificial like a trap.We tried a large game fishing net that barely fit in a 150 and put food way down in the bottom.Then we just let everyone get comfortable with it and waited to yank it out.Got others but not the wrass.I thought a "seasoned" piece of PVC with rocks attached to it like its their new cave might work,then yank it out or some kind of trap door. I am excited that they get 5",didn't know they got that big.We love ours,he eats any kind of reef pests.

Adding to this, I have had mine for a while now. He is actually one of the most docile fish I have in my tank. I have introduced fish after it, and the six line does not bother them. In fact, I have seen other fish swimming near it and it did nothing to them. On another note: coincidence or not, I have not seen a bristle worm in a while since I introduced this fish a while back. I used to see them quite frequently when I was feeding the tank, or at night. I was even using those traps and they seemed to work great. Now when I put the trap in, I do not even see a bristle worm go in/in it at all.
He lives with a tang,watchman goby/pistol shrimp, skunk shrimp, two clowns,scissor tail, tail spot blenny, and a diamond goby. And of course various corals.

Mine is a ******!!!!!!! I have too much live rock to catch him. I might rent a lion fish to get rid of him. He chases all of my smaller fish.

Cutting a plastic bottle and inverting the mouth into the bottle, zip tying to my magnet cleaner and food baiting worked for me. Took a day or 2 but...got him.

I just added a whiptail wrasse and What a Jerk mine proved to be. He has calmed down now but for a few days beat the daylights out of it and shredded tail. Now my whiptail is out in the open and happy.

FYI - Whiptails (C. filamentosus) is one of the most aggressive of the Fairy Wrasses. Between that and the Sixline, I doubt you will be able to add any future wrasses unfortunately. Glad they worked it out for now though.

My six line "Spock" is a favorite fish. Lately he's showing off (not aggressive or naughty) to my other fish (black percs, coral beauty, Dispar anthias... ) He's very beautiful, I think he (or she) is showing their big belly.

Fortunately, It is the last wrasse I planned to add.

FYI - Whiptails (C. filamentosus) is one of the most aggressive of the Fairy Wrasses. Between that and the Sixline, I doubt you will be able to add any future wrasses unfortunately. Glad they worked it out for now though.
