I'm looking for my 150 gallon tank. I plan on keepiping mostly sps corals and a few lps as well. I was looking at the Nyos, reef octopus as well as the k2 skimmers. What do you think would be best, as far as name brand as skimmer size? Thanks for your help. There are so many choices to choose from. I just want to get a good skimmer fro my tank that will not be to small.

That's a nice skimmer. I have a Trigger systems emerald 34 sump. The skimmer area is 10x14. I maybe limited as to what size skimmer I can use. By the way thanks for the reply.

Another dimension you might want to consider if the sump is located in a cabinet, is the head space. So, the height of the skimmer along with any platform you may need to mount it on to get it in the optimum operating depth should be considered.

Most skimmers that would be appropriate for your system are going to be in the 20" to 22" in height, so you might look for one that is no more than 20" high that has an optimal operating depth in the 9" range. If you have a 10" bulkhead you may still have to make a small platform, but if it's around 2", you will still have a 3" buffer to allow you to remove the cup for cleaning. A couple possibilities would be the Tunze 9410(16") and Bubble Magus Curve 7, although I would select the SeaSide Aquatics ES7 over the Curve7 because it runs a Sicce PSK1000 pump.
