Anyone have any suggestions for a good yet cost-effective (emphasis on cost-effective) protein skimmer for a 75 gallon?

AQUA REMORA Pro hob works great.

I have a Bubble Magus Curve 7 on my 75. Over kill for sure, but a great skimmer for under $300. Could get a Curve 5 for under $200. Silent, and a performer. Glad i made the switch.

Starting skimming in three hours and has great surface contact time.

Ya I'm looking for in my sump and a budget of under 200. I'm trying to start a 75 on a students budget haha. So far my costs to start are at a cool 800....

:/ If only you were in the same country. lol I have an aquamaxx am150 that I posted here. Shipping though would make it over $200. lol I think AquaMaxx is pretty good for the price. Build quality is really good. Haven't run it yet but Dtech loves his. :)

I love CADLights skimmers! They're very efficient in energy use as well as performance and functionality and run virtually silently. I have had many different skimmers and will always be loyal to the CADlights brand in the future.
For your size tank, you could go with the TIA-1150 or, if your limited on sump space, the amazingly innovative Pipe-less skimmer that has a footprint of only 4.75"x 4.76"! Both come with and use the same pump which uses only 20 watts of electricity.

search e-bay for SCA-302. IMHO this is the best bang for the buck skimmer for a 75g on the market. If you Google and search Youtube for this skimmer you will find reviews on reef forums and videos of it in action.
It is a cone with Atman style pump. Works like a champ!

here is my SCA-302
