This is the skimmer I have. It's been working well for about 9 months now, but I notice it seems to shut off and stop skimming. I have to mess with the dials and it turns back on. Does this with both and empty and full collection cup. It also foams a ton out of the top or not at all. Anyone have any pointers? I don't understand how it works. Pump is always running when the above issues happen so I know its not turning off?

Have you tried getting in contact with NYOS itself? I'm wondering if it is shutting off due to it being in "feed mode", is there a way you can turn that off?
