Alright I have a big question. Do most people run there skimmer 24/7 or do they shut it off during say feeding times? I have a All In One Tank, I am thinking about putting say a 2 hours timer on my Skimmer and Return pump so for two hours after the lights go off I can feed and give everything plenty of time to eat. Would it work with just the skimmer or should I turn off all pumps in the tank. I am just thinking the skimmer and return pump. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks

there is a couple reason to turn off the skiimer during feeding. some skiimers can go nuts during feeding times for one. another reason is you dont want the skimmer to pull out and foods that are ment for fish and corals untill they have had a chance to take some in from the water colunm. so ya, its reasonable to turn it off durning those times. i have 4 powerheads so i tend to turn to not turn them off turn that time frame.

I run my skimmers 24/7. When I feed the skimmer slows down temporarily especially if it's oily foods. If you add iodine or some other things it can make the skimmer go nuts.

I do shut my powerheads off for about a half hour when I target feed my corals so theres less food blowing around the tank.

If your talking about filter feeding foods then I would say prolly let the pumps on in the tank to blow it around.
I don't ever feed my tanks filter foods as I think it pollutes more than they actually eat but I don't have sps just mostly lps and softies.
Ive had my bubble coral for 25 years and can count on 1 hand the times Ive fed it lol.
I do target feed my acans, duncans, dendros, chalice mysis or rods about once a week though.

24/7 for me. I turn the main pump off when feeding, but just leave the skimmer running. But my skimmers are in sumps so it doesn't apply to your application. Seems you should turn your pump and skimmer off during feeding.
