I've had a sk181 and an mf121 (Warner marine version of the 121 but the same) they are well built and well designed but fall short when it comes to the Eden pumps. The 181 actually worked well for me but I had nothing but problems with the pump on the 121. Both use the es2000. I had start up issues with the 121 pump since day one. A new impeller solved that problem but then the epoxy in the back of the pump broke down, I've never had this happen to any other pump I've owned, not even the cheapest. Skimz wouldn't replace it but Warner marine did for the sake of good customer service. The new pump wouldn't run at all, I sent it back to aquacave and they got it to run somehow and sent it back to me. A couple months later start up issues started and not long after it stopped running all together. I now have an almost new body and no pump. I'm not willing to try a third time with this pump. The es5000 is supposed to be a better pump. That was my experience anyway.

Get the rlss with the waveline dc pump. Best skimmer I have ever had - the pumps are second gen and superb - Even Reef Oct had trouble with their 1st gen dc pumps

I have an sk201 and love it; no issues and it's production is consistent.

I do know there are complaints with the models with DC pumps and short pump life; I'd stick with a model with an AC pump.

Skimz is based in Singapore.

I'm comparing a SRO-3000 to a Skimz SM 201 Monzter E-series. Both are used less than a year. Both for $275. What do you guys recommend? Tank size is 240g with total water volume about 300 gallons. Or should I look at something else??
