Anyone have a very aggressive Cleaner Shrimp. All my research said they were reef safe but he seems very aggressive. He has eaten several nassarius snails and also picks at my corals often.

He is well fed so I am wondering if I just happened to get a mean shrimp. Any suggestions or thoughts?

thanks

I don't think cleaner shrimp have the strength to actually kill things. They will pick at my snails and my snails will hide from him but I don't think he can actually hurt them enough to matter. It does bother me to watch. poor snails lol
I would think something else is killing the snails. As scavengers they will be on top of dead snails taking the opportunity to eat. I haven't been keeping corals yet but they are in most systems I've seen in coral shops so they are good.

^^^giving us a pic is a good idea

I had mine for few years and so far has been behaving well. Very active, but not bothering anybody. I think your snails must've been already death. Those shrimps are scavengers, not predators.

I was adding new members to my CUC and I watched the shrimp kill the snails. I have added some trochus, Astrea, and Nerites with no problem. If I add nassarius, he thinks it is meal time.

Let's see this apex predator
