Hi all!

I'm in need of nessarius Snails and unless I drive an hour the closest place for me to get some is petco.

Knowing that their tanks have fish with ich, should I stay away? Do any of those types of parasites transfer on snail shells?

All Petco's are different so it is hard to make a general recommendation. I've heard reports of some really good stores and some really awful stores.

Depending on quantity and amount you want to spend have you tried ordering online? I have used www.reefcleaners.org before with good luck. They have cleaner packages starting at around $15 with free shipping.

Yes, ich or velvet can encyst on any hard surface, so that includes snail shells, corals, etc

You can quarantine in a fishless system for 76 days to let anything hatch before you move it to the display.

You could also inquire with the vendor above, and others, about if his snails are in fishless systems and how long since they have been exposed to fish in the environment.
While not as good as doing a qt yourself, if they have been in a fishless system would certainly be better than coming from the average petco tank, or most any lfs, which has them in a system with fish.

Just depends on how risk averse you are. I have a coral/invert quarantine so I throw a few at a time in there and wait.
