Softie in sump?

I have a short polyp green toadstool which I have had about 6 months and it's been the biggest pain to place, tried just about every location in two different tanks and it opens for 24 hours then closes for weeks till I move it, then same again opens for a day closes and looks really unhappy.
Basically I got a bit annoyed with it so stuck it in my sump, in the refugium section which is lite 24/7 and so far the thing loves it, 7 days straight of it never looking so happy.

Do softies need dark/night periods to survive long term?

Many would say yes, for some of the same reasons to use an alternating light schedule(besides PH stability). Co2 and then 02 uptake and release during photosynthesis and day night periods, plants breathout o2 in the day, then breathe in o2 at night ,. Corals do both. The animal uses oxygen at all times. The zoox Algea (plant)uses co2 and res pirates like a plant. plus a "rest" period has been oft discussed for the zooox for a couple reasons Im still learning:).

Thanks saltfilmfolks, will start doing the refug lights on reverse to my DS, toadstool is so happy down there so might put the Xenia and Kenya in with it as make a little softie display, the caulerpa never grew much anyway. Thanks.

COME ON ADMIT IT. You want another tank:). we all do.:D (I have four:D technicly)
Youll have higher nutrients in the sump but yea go for it. if you treat the sump and fuge as pretty as the DT youll be super happy, but understand its just a dirtier environment, so choose live stock and macros accordingly and treat it like a mini tank. think about light. add cool macros. The toad stool needs more light than dragons tongue different spectrum too, kenya and xenia will be fine im that much mushrooms too. But it still serves the same purpose, nutrient reduction by export(xenia fuge google it).

Lol. Upgrades like four times this year already, tanks like 800l and already wishing I had gone all out for something bigger!

Going to def put the softies into the sump, maybe use it to rear baby Banggai too

I as well run softies in my fuge. Anthelia started taking over display, and couldn't bring myself to just get rid of them as they were one of my first corals. Removed door on stand and use it as a "display fuge"
