Solid black snail like thing?

NOT A BLACK STOMATELLA.

It’s solid black and was chilling on the shell of my coco worm. this thing itself has a hard shell that runs from the top top to bottom. was really hard to get off my coco worm.

A good description would help narrow it down. The shell you're referring to is it completely encased in it? Or is it just on the top with a snail on bottom? Was it suctioned onto your coco worm, or held on by threads, or calcified to the worm?

thank you for the reply. this thing must be the shell of that stomatella, sorry for the confusion. not sure what else it could be, definitely not a living stomatella.

not sure if this is a snail, if it is it's a dead one.

this is it's underside. its hard to get a picture of it since it's so dang small, but it wouldn't latch onto anything else after I got it off my coco worm, and it was suctioned onto that. it had a relatively hard top, just not squishy. not sure what else to say about this thing, but it's definitely not a stomatella which I have like hundreds of those.

it's pretty small so that's as good as it gets with my camera... but this thing cant be compared to any of my stomatellas in my tank, doesn't share any features.

I'm late (sorry OP!), but most likely a Runcinid sea slug/snail of some variety (formerly considered Cephalaspideans or relatives); they are reportedly mostly herbivores, but a few are reportedly carnivorous (I am struggling to find many specifics beyond that at this point though). Anyway, most should be good CUC with maybe a few predatory ones that I assume would go after tiny critters (like pods, flatworms, hydroids, etc.) and/or possibly small CUC members.

I was too curious so I didn't kill this thing, I put it in an observation tank where there is plenty of things for it to possibly feed on. haven't seen it since, hopefully it's okay.
