I have a Neon Dottyback and a Six-line Wrass who recently are always going at it. The Dottyback is always the aggressor. So <rhetorical question> Why are the Dottyback's fins all shredded, and there isn't a mark on the Wrass? The Wrass doesn’t seem stressed at all. It goes about it's business picking at rocks immediately after each tie-up.

That's not a question as much as an observation that the aggressor is not prevailing, yet.

The fact that one fish feels the need to fight with the other while the other doesn't seem to notice, but gives the aggressor a good fin thrashing before going about it's day is how things are for now. With time, the hostility may wear down one or both of the fish and then the game may change. Who ends up "The WInner?"

Why do people fight, or post mean things? I hope my post doesn't sound mean. Yours' is an interesting observation.

Keep us posted as they grow up and hopefully settle in and get along, or not? 🙃 🤠 😇

Your post doesn't have a mean tone to it, just dosing some reality! I agree with the "yet" part. The Dotty right now is just a little longer than the Wrasse, but that is genetically programed to change.

Neon Dotty is a nightmare of a fish. I’ve had one in a 30 grew pretty quick was beautiful though so it was tough to get rid of. As they mature they become more territorial. They are always the aggressor and they have no fear of any fish. Tank mates can be triple the size and they still attack. Mine would pick fights with my pair of clowns. But he stood no match to them. Traded him in to my LFS, I visited weeks later and he was still there in a tank by himself because he was terrorizing a blue hippo 5 times the size of him. They really should be a huge tank 150+ with more aggressive fish with lots of rocks

You 6line might be the alpha but I doubt the aggression will subside

Pretty much all Dottys are nightmares.

The wrasse in this case is just a better fighter and will probably end up having to kill the Dotty eventually. Dottys never seem to settle down. I have had an orchid, neon, and a splendid they were all really bad the orchid was the worst.

Thank you. This one was captive bred, so I had higher hopes. Silly noob.
