When setting up a new aquarium it’s almost inevitable that you will be looking at powerheads and that almost always leads to looking at wavemakers. When it comes to aquariums there are a lot of reasons to look at wavemakers but the most popular is that the more random the flow, the less dead spots and thus the less detritus will settle into those dead spots. This makes your filtration more effective and your tank a better environment for the inhabitants. There are a variety of different types of wavemakers out there and the purpose of this article is to help define the advantages and disadvantages to each so that you can chose the best fit for your tank.
