I have six tanks, going on seven. When I walk down the hallway to the Reef Cave, I can assess the tanks conditions by sound before I get there. Sometimes an ato runs dry, and a return pump sucks air. Sometimes a snail gets too close to a wave maker, and makes it whirl. So after I hear something that sounds weird, I immediately look for which tank is making the noise.

That noise I heard when I walked into my apartment after being away at RAP Orlando last April is a sound I won't soon forget. And I won't be able to forget that smell either.

Can You Hear Your Tanks Before Seeing Them, and Know Their Status

It has gotten to the point where my family, who are largely uninvolved with my tanks, will text me and tell me that something doesn’t look or sound right even though they don’t understand the tanks at all or have any idea what’s going on, they just know it’s not the normal look or sound. Even though they may not have the same passion for aquariums that I do, I’m glad that they are on my team!

My tanks are all pretty noisy-- but there is definitely a difference between 'That' girgle sound, and 'THAT' girgle sound! 🤪

My new tank (5 mos old) is pretty quiet since the only equipment that has moving parts are the wavemaker and the canister filter. If I would hear water that would be bad! Oh yeah, the auto feeder makes a noise but that is the same noise, same time every day so its ok.

HA 100%! Sometimes I "hear" tank issues and it's just the washer! LOL!
