You'd be a lot better off getting a piece of scrap 3/8 or half inch plate glass from a glass shop.

Thin glass breaks easy. Thick stuff doesn't. Drilling a 10g tank is way harder than drilling a 150g tank.

Agreed, 10Gallon is too thin to practice on. The smallest I've drilled recently is more than half a dozen 40-breeders. On 10G tanks the glass is nearly paper thin. I've actually seen people "cut" holes in these thinner tanks using dremel and diamond bits. YouTube is your friend.

I personally would take it to a glass shop who has insurance/ ability to replace glass at their expense. The problem with smaller tanks is glass is often tempered and cannot be drilled.

Drill it.

My tip and this may have already been said....do not put pressure on the drill. Let the hole saw do the work for you.
